Default Code C1281c on 98 coupe

How much is this going to cost at the stealership? It throws this code if I start up and turn the steering to the right. I have recently done some work to the car though, battery, tires and rotors. Help please

Does this car have active handling (RPO JL4) or just traction control?

When the work was done on the car did anybody disconnect the steering shaft from the power steering rack? If so the steering shaft may have been turned 360 degrees before reconnecting and needs to be reset to its correct orientation.

Check the steering sensor connections at the base of the steering column under the dash.

Well the car only has Z-51 and no active handling since the car is a 98. The steering shaft has not been disconnected. I unplugged the sensor and plugged it back in. Weird though I was experimenting this evening and today during the heat(when I first noticed this, I had the AC blasting full blast and then I noticed the AC was all of the sudden blowing less air(lower voltage) So tonight I decided to test. When I would turn the steering to the right at an Idle I would get the SVS message and the 1281 code was current. I would shut off the car and then reset the codes only this time I was reving the engine and the car did not throw the code or give the message. Could it be that this is a voltage problem? Thanks for responding BTW I appreciate it

I had this code a while back and ended up replacing my steering position sensor.

The EBCM supplies pull up voltages to the steering sensor. If the battery voltage to the EBCM is low then it will not provide the proper voltage to the steering sensor. This could cause the problem but is not specifically called out in the diagnostic. What is your battery voltage reading at idle?

Did you do this yourself or did you pay to have it done? Either way if you dont mind me asking what did it run you?
