While at my tire store, they showed me a set of Romulus Exhaust Systems by Remus for the Corvette. I know this is a German manufacturer, and their primary market is BMWs and Audis, but is anybody familiar with this exhaust system? And how they might compare to the other systems out there?
Would you buy an exhaust system by a company named "Remus." Sorry to intrude. Like my attorney's Firm name: Dewey, Cheatham and Howe.

Thanks for the links. You are right, the company is in Austria. I got confused since their website was in German, so I made a bad assumption. I used babelfish to translate, and overall I am impressed with the attention to quality and materials. But what do they sound like?
The CEC website actually contained some specs, so now if I decide to get these, it looks like I might be the only one in North America?
Oh, I get it, ream us. I guess that actually might be appropriate for an exhaust company. As for your law firm, the Marx Brothers were using them in the 30's.
I know a few biker guys who have Remus slip-on exhausts on. Those bikes sound (as expected) louder; the sound range is increased both at deep idling and high rev.
I also had a couple of chances to drive a 100cc track kart that was fitted with Remus exhaust. The exhaust made the small engine sounded like it was a lot bigger. There were gurgle sounds (like Corsa) but mostly rumbling at idle. The high end was like the bike exhausts - high pitched.
If you decide to get one, be sure to let us know how it sounds like. Remus is pretty big time overseas; the kart guys all agree on that!

My dealer had it on a showroom car and he let me hear it. In the showroom he did not push it so I only could hear idle and a little bit more. To me it sounds similar to Corsa Touring, maybe even a little bit softer/silent. Definitely louder than stock. Not the deep burble at idle.
A&A mod is much better for me and cheaper too.
Hope this helps.

Here's what I have learned since my post yesterday.
The set I saw got sold and installed that day on a red 2002 Coupe. I was able actually evaluate their look and sound. First, I think these are the best looking pipes I have seen, and I believe I've seen them all. There are four rounded rectangular pipes, that stick out as much as an inch or so farther than any other system. The tips are highly polished, and about 4" inside the pipes are sort of an inner sleeve with honeycomb pattern. I do not have the technical knowledge as to what this is, but it looks way cool. The top of the tips are stamped with the Romulus name and logo.
They had a good rumbling sound at low idle, perhaps even a little deeper than I've heard before. You really felt the sound before you heard it. Unfortunately, I did not hear the wide open throttle, since we were just in a parking lot, and the owner had only had the car for a day, so was just a little hesitant. But she had 2 Vettes before this one, and she was quite pleased with the results.
The pricing I got was $1050 to $1200, plus installation, so these are not cheap. I haven't made my decision yet, but I haven't ruled these out either.
Depending on what you desire in an exhaust system, you should hear the WOT sound. I am guessing that the Germans have some lower db sound requirement for their exhaust. If you want a lot of sound under WOT you need to hear them before you buy them.
Hey Balboa Dave, keep us up to date on this! If you hear the WOT from the Remus, be sure to let us know.
I just talked to my dealer and he didn't know Remus was doing a system for the C5 as well. This is all news to us!

As you may see on my forum name, I live in Austria.
I have the REMUS installed.
I had Corsa indy´s on my 98 6speed, but now on my 99 A4 I wanted something other. Then I saw that Remus builds this system and
tried it. I am happy that I have no oversee shipping costs, extra taxes,....
on them (like on all other parts I purchase in USA) so they only costed me
about 700$.
They have a very deep rumble at idle (love that!!!!) and a good (like the cosa touring) sound at WOT.
For me , these is the best sounding exhaust for all that want a DEEP sound and louder than stock, but not very loud (like the indy`s) on WOT.
They look great!!
You will find some pics on my hp (see sig)!!
Go to "meine Corvette" and there you see some pics.
(sorry, on the pics the tips are not clean, so you cannot see the polished look,
it`s shiny when they are clean :))
BTW, I ganed the same hp than with my corsa indy`s!!!
