Long tubes will give you 20 - 30 rwhp. I have Stainless Works on my 02 and am happy with them. Get a tune after the install for max benefits.

I was told by one of the top tuners in the country that headers were good for only about ten h/p. on a ZO6.Said he had dozens of dyno sheets to prove it.I was surprised, but he's a heck of a lot smarter than I am.

I had ECS put gears, a torque converter and headers in one session in a coupe. Naturally this combo adds a lot of zip, but it also added a ton of noise. I have Z06 Ti cat back, and American Racing headers. They said with the vararam and exhaust, maybe 30HP. I'm not sure if that number reflected a tune, and I did not get a tune. I think that 10% is a pretty good gain for the vararam and headers. Now I'm set for heads and a mild cam. Hopefully, all the stuff would get me to 400rwhp from 290rwhp.

Dynatechs are another good choice.

Yes! They will help!

My buddy Joe Dyno'd with a VARARAM and Flowmaster mufflers @ 321 RWHP (I forget the TQ)

But after the K@@Ks Headers, Hi-Flow Cats and X-Pipe he Dyno'd @
353 RWHP and 367 RWTQ.

Remember too that was also with the Dyno tune it is necessary to have it tuned to get the max out of the exhaust!

I would suggest pretty much any Header combo for your budget but if you want the best out there right now K@@Ks are the industry leader for right now!

Thanks,Matt

I just finished the install on my American Racing Headers tonight. The ride home was an eye opener.
They definitiely added torque and horsepower and the sound is awesome.

Youll want to get a real tune after putting on Longtubes, that predator isnt much good for what youll need to do.

Thats kind of suprising because I have done a few header installs here and always got at least 25hp.

I think he was meaning that LTs alone, without a tune, were worth around 10 hp. How much of a gain do you usually see when you do a tune on a stock LS-1?

TIA, and have a good one,
Mike

Yes, I have LG Pros on my 02 coupe with the stock catback. The system does come with an X-pipe and either off-road pipes or Hi-Flow cats, so the Z06 catback will the only piece you keep, but that's the good part of the Z06 exhaust anyway. LG tuned it right after the install, so I can't vouch for just the LTs. However, with tuning and LG Pros with Hi-flow cats, I went from 310rwhp/328rwtq to 340/356. So with tuning, expect around 30HP.

Go browse the Z06 section and see what some of the guys are getting with headers only. I have seen plenty of dyno sheets where longtubes and a tune net 30whp. Here's a post of a headers/CAI hitting 385whp. There's no baseline, but '02+ Z06's typically hit 355whp. If this dyno isn't an ego-booster, he could have very well netted 30+whp. http://forums.corvetteforum.com/show...t=dyno+headers
