I did mine with some reservations regarding "is it really worth it" and "why bother cleaning it" type issues. I guess it's ok when you are itching to do something.

look into the amsoil filters. I hear they are supposed to be way better than K&N filters.
Check out this thread for some good info

Don't even waste your money on a K&N. You would be better off burning your $40 than installing the K&N.
Look at the Amsoil EaA83 for a stock air box or EaAU4075 if you want to remove your stock air box. The EaAU4075 would attach to the end of your MAF meter.

what about the rubber hose that attaches to the air box. If you use a cone filter what happens with the rubber hose?

The rubber connector that goes between the stock air box and MAF meter will be removed. The cone filter will slip right over the end of the MAF meter.

I'm not following you. If you remove the stock air box than you will have to get a breather filter for the air injection pump line.

The Amsoil is a full synthetic paper element that utilizes their nanofiber technology. It is less restrictive than a normal paper element and filters better.

Can I simply take off the stock air box and connect the conical filter to the maf? What if anything has to be done with the rubber hose?
