I have 50,000 on my 2000 Coupe, should I change the plugs and wires? Also I was looking Granatelli spark plug wires and they claim to add to up to 10 horsepower!! Is this true? I was going with NGK plugs unless anyone else has another suggestion?

Key words in the sentence "UP TO". New Stock vs New Granatelli, you'll see nothing.
Douglas, I wouldn't put much stock in the claims. I recently changed out my wires and plugs and went with the GM performance red wires and Ac Delco Iridium plugs and couldn't be happier. Gene has some good prices over at Gmpartshouse (forum vendor).

For spark plugs either the Delco Iridium 41-985 or Denso Iridium IT16 for the stock heat range or IT20 for one heat range colder.
I went with Red Performance wires (ACTUALLY CHEAPER THAN THE BLACK OEM ONES) reused the metal cans (radio supression) and used the GM Iridium plugs. Incidentally your existing plugs age gapped at .060 and the Iridium plugs are gapped at .040. DON'T REGAP THEM TO .060. Only real challenge was the rear plug on the drivers side. Needed a swivel 5/8" plug socket (about $4 at Autozone) for this plug. Have FUN. BIGHANK
I haven't seen anything come out of Granetteli that was accurate or added power on the vette - they do reduce the weight of your wallet though
Go with a set of OEM plugs and wires from Gene and you'll be happy. Use the money you save and buy a few beers for your Forum buddies - like me for instance
Thanks for the advice, I know I can always count on Forum Members!! Chaning plugs, wires, and painting calipers next weekend if anyone wants to watch, have a good laugh, and drink a cold beer or two!
I am in the process of changing out my plugs and wires and have asked the same question you did. I changed my plugs with the NGK TR55IX Iridiums. I was torn between the GM replacements and the MSD's. I paid $70(shipping included) for the MSD's. They claim to have a 40 ohm loss and are alot less expensive than the Granatelli's. The MSD's are already custom cut so you don't have to. MSD's come in black and red and are 8.5 mm compared to the 8 mm for the GM's. I hope this info helps with your decision. BUY THE IRIDIUMS. Do Not buy Platinums
From: 90% of all Fords are still on the road.....the other 10% actually made it home!

I agree with you about the MSD wires, I went them and couldn't be happier.......but as far as plugs go....Silver Plugs are actually better than the Iridiums. There's no question that the Platinums aren't all that great for this application, but Silver happens to be the best conductor of metal that you can use,....... Nology makes a set for around $65.
Just my .02 worth
