Default Low Oil Level on DIC ???

I just installed my vararam last night and everything went fine.

After finishing, I went for a ride. My low oile level came on the DIC so I stopped added 1/2 quart and the message was still on. Came home, checked oil and it was fine, right on the money on the dipstick.

However, the low oil level message still appears. Is this a bad sensor or is somethign wrong with the car?

Thank you,

could be a sensor. are there any codes? i would assume you park where you usually do because mine occasionally comes on if i am not parked level. i personally would reset and see if it reoccurs before i got too worried about it. especially since your oil level is ok.

never had to rethink the issue so i can't help much more but there are plenty of guys on here that will jump in once they know more.

good luck!

I may just been impatient. I just too the car to work this morning and now, there is no low oil level message. Maybee the car need some time to adjust?

How soon after adding oil should the message go away? Does it take a certain number of cycles with the key to relearn?

If you reset the code, it should go away immediately. Usually, if the error clears then the DIC goes away on the next restart after the code clearning but the code is still in history.

When you say reset the code, do you mean run the diagnostics program then reset the code?

When th elow oil level was displayed, I just hit reset, I did run the diagnostic mode to reset.

reset will do. code will be stored in computer memory as a history event (h) as opposed to a current event - one that is still occurring (c).

you can get into the onboard diagnostics to see current and history codes if you are curious. search here for instructions on "checking codes" to get all of the details for reading and translating codes, including resetting the computer memory which is not what the the reset does - it just clears the words from the display (dic - driver's info center)
