I have a 2001 6 speed coupe and finally doing some upgrades. I will be installing a Donaldson Blackwing Filter, Z51 Sway bars and Corsa Indy cat back. My question is if I should also install the Corsa X pipe? Will it tone the sound of the cat back too much? Is it true you get better throttle response with the X pipe? Thanks for help !
Re: ?Install Corsa Indy with or without Corsa X pipe? (Silver Bullit)
Hey Now:
I have the Indys and did not go with the x-pipe. Tones the pipes down too much for my taste. But the x-pipe will add a few more hp though. See if you can find one near you and take a listen :yesnod:
Re: ?Install Corsa Indy with or without Corsa X pipe? (Silver Bullit)
I added X-pipe (Bassani) to tone down POP-POP-POP (personal preference). As Cliff-B said try without...you can always add. Here is a how to do-it-yourself http://home.att.net/~jansseng/x-Pipe.htm
Re: ?Install Corsa Indy with or without Corsa X pipe? (Silver Bullit)
Thanks for your suggestions. Has anybody installed this combo or any X pipe with the Corsa Indys on a 2001? Does the X pipe just eliminate the popping but retains the Indys deep sound? Any improvement in horsepower and throttle response?
Re: ?Install Corsa Indy with or without Corsa X pipe? (Silver Bullit)
I had a bassani X pipe on mine. I found that I lost about 5 hp and 10 TQ with the X pipe on a head cam header setup. Made it way to quiet too. You want to buy a new bassani X pipe, IT LOOKS REAL NICE.
Re: ?Install Corsa Indy with or without Corsa X pipe? (hpcubed)
I have the magnaflow x-pipe hooked up to the corsa indy's i thought it sounded great until i heard JB's without the x-pipe Much bolder sound in my opinion. I have to hear long term to make a final decision, but i am holding onto my H-pipe for now. Still pops a little even with the x-pipe.
Re: ?Install Corsa Indy with or without Corsa X pipe? (Silver Bullit)
Corsa says their X-pipe reduces popping. No way. I have the their X-pipe and Indy exhaust and the popping/gurggling is more pronounced than ever. Even on upshifting I hear a little pop between gears. This is not necessarily a bad thing, just something you should know about. After a while it kinda' grows on you. :yesnod:
Re: ?Install Corsa Indy with or without Corsa X pipe? (TRF)
Thanks for your input. TRF, did you feel faster throttle response? From your response TRF, I am going to install the Corsa X pipe with the Corsa Indys. I am glad to hear there is still popping and the aggressive sound is not lost. I dont understand how one of the post said they lost horsepower and torque? You should have an easier flowing system with less restriction. All the advertisments for different X pipes say they increase HP and torque, unless they are lying just to sell it??Any comments anyone...anyone??
Re: ?Install Corsa Indy with or without Corsa X pipe? (Silver Bullit)
Hard to tell about throttle response. The Z06 is very torquey. They definitely have better flow than the titanium exhaust. I have to believe more HP and torque was gained, however small. Personally, I just wanted a louder, more exotic sound, and I got it with this setup.
Corsa also claims that their Crossover Pipe (x-pipe) eliminates gurgling (motorboat) at idle. Yes it does. Idle is smooth with a hint of anger. :reddevil
Re: ?Install Corsa Indy with or without Corsa X pipe? (Silver Bullit)
When I was at B & B a few months ago they said the dyno'd several configurations of X pipe and could find none that increased hp.
By the way, I'm amused at guys on the forum that claim SOTP's improvements on things that MIGHT at five hp. I just don't believe anyone can feel five hp. My point is, in God we trust, all others bring data (back to back dyno slips would be nice).
