It shouldn't cost a lot to recharge and you can probably do it yourself using a kit like this...

If the system was open for a few days you should evacuate it (put it in a vacuum) to get any moisture out. Any oil that leaked out when the lines were disconnected should be replaced. If an ounce hit the ground then you need to add an ounce to the system. For that and a recharge in my neck of the woods it’s about $125.00

So long as you're confident there are no leaks from where you removed the ac lines go buy a R 134 AC vaccuum pump from Harbor Freight. Hook that up to your compressor and with the car off let it run for about 5-10 minutes. Then measure the vaccum at the lowside port. Vac should be about 26- 28 hg. At that point, turn the vehicle on with AC full blast and add R134a (I'd get the stuff w/ the UV dye) until the low side pressure reads about 60 psi. This should be a little over 2 12oz cans. Your ac should be blowing cold and smelling good at this point. Run it like normal for a few days and then get under the hood w/ a black light and check every connection in the AC line for any leaks. I recently had a leaky schrader valve neccessitating a complete recharge. Luckily the schrader valve was only like 1 dollar. Good Luck.
