Default Problems Programming Tire Pressure Sensors

I have gone through the sensor programing procedure. IGNITION ON--RESET TO CLEAR WARNING MESSAGES--SCROLL THROUGH OPTIONS TO BLANK--PRESS AND HOLD RESET--at this point I recieve key FOB TRAINING on DIC. Pressing the OPTIONS button does not change the FOB TRAINING message. At that point I can go no further. Am I missing something or is something wrong. The car is a 2003 millinium yellow rag top. HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!. THANKS FOR ANY INFORMATION---CHRIS

Default Here Ya Go:

to reset the TPMs. 1) Turn ignition on 2) Press "Reset" button in order to clear any IPC display warning messages 3) Press and release the "Options" button on the DIC to scroll through the display options until the IPC display is blank 4) Press and hold the DIC "Reset" button for 3 seconds 5) Press the "Options" button again until TIRE TRAINING message appears 6) Press "Reset" button until the IPC "Learn L Front Tire" message appears in order to begin the programming 7) Install the J41760 Tire Pressure Monitor (TPM) System Programming Tool (large magnet will do) over the left front valve stem 8) The horn will sound, indicating the left front TPM sensor is programmed (if this takes more than 15 seconds, pull magnet back and try again, it will give you three tries. Then you must start over) 9) When the horn sounds, proceed to program the next TPM sensor in the following order as directed by the IPC messages: -Learn R Front Tire -Learn R Rear Tire -Learn L Rear Tire Programming can be canceled by turning ignition off, waiting 2 minutes with no sensors being learned, finishing all 4 wheels or through the DIC. If the programming is canceled with less than 4 sensors learned, it will only accept the codes programmed up to that point.

After tire training message appears:
Press the reset button until ipc learn L front tire message appears in order to begin the program sequence.

Install the magnet over the left front valve stem

The horn will sound, indicating the left front tpm sensor is program.

When the horn sounds proceed to program the next tpm R front, R rear, and L rear.
Depending what type of magnet you are using the magnet might have to be moved at difference angles to avoid blocking the signal of the tpm to the receiver.

I hope this helps.

Bob

Thanks for quick reply.I used that same procedure and got to the 5th step where I need to press options button to recieve my TIRE TRAINING message and it stays on FOB TRAINING on the DIC. No matter how many times I press the options that FOB TRAINING stays on DIC. I am beginning to think I may have another problem other than just reprogramming the sensors. Any other thoughts on this problem would be greatly appreciated. THANKS AGAIN--CHRIS

Is it possible there are no Tire Pressure Monitors in your wheels, just valve stems...since the DIC won't display the Tire Training option. Z06's don't have TPM's and you will not find a Tire Training option in their DIC.. sounds like you have a Z06 or Z06 wheels with no TPM's...just a thought...cause your DIC is acting like this is the case.

It sounds like what a Z06 would do. But a vert won't be a Z06. I really have no ideas except maybe the BCM was swapped for a Z06 one or it was re-programmed? Strange.

The message would come up even if the wheels don't have sensors in them. You just couldn't learn the sensors.

Thanks for the help guys. This one has me baffled too. The car is not a z06. One thing is the car had 8500 miles on it when I bought it a few months ago and the tires need replacement I wonder if TOM OATS CHEVROLET in Chester Springs PA switched the wheels to another car when I bought it. I`ll check monitors when I replace the tires.
THANKS AGAIN---CHRIS

2001 and newer models can have the TPS monitor turned off, using a tech II. Perhaps the previous owner didn't want to use runflat tires and tire pressure sensors. He may have had that feature turned off. If that is the case, the dealer should be able to enable that feature for you. It is a function of the BCM. If that feature was disabled, you may find that the tire pressure sensors were also removed from the wheels. Also, are the tires that are on the car runflats? That would be another clue.

I have a 2005 c6. I had LFxx after seeing the Service Tire Monitor warning. My dealer "serviced" this and told me I need a new monitor on that wheel, but now I have two wheels xx'd out. I tried to reprogram the TPMS myself using the instructions above, but I cannot get into any tire training mode. I start with a blank DIC and scroll through all the options, but the next time it is blank is when I scroll past the last option, Personalize Name. Holding reset does nothing at this point. My TPMS is working, I just cannot get into tire training mode. Any help? Thanks.

C6 TPMs can not be reset using the above C5 proceedure. Go here: http://forums.corvetteforum.com/show....php?t=1495228 & you can read all the posts relative to resetting C6 TPMs...
