Default Which Headers.

I'm looking to buy some Long tubes for my 99 C5. Which on would you guys recommend? Right now, I'm leaning towards the Kooks.

Budget = TSP LT's
$$ To Spend = American Racing Headers

I asked this question several months back when I first considered getting headers. These four were recommended (and are only presented in alphabetical order, not order of preference),

American Racing Headers
Dynatech Supermaxx
Kooks
LGs

I ultimately went with Kooks just because the performance shop I went to seemed to favor them, but I think any of the above are fine. I can tell you that having Kooks headers/catted X-pipe/mid-pipes, I saw a 35HP gain.

Oh, one important thing... if you the install headers and all other pipes, seriously consider getting a tunnel plate with thermal abs by Elite Engineering. With the exhaust piping out, it is the appropriate time to do it... you won't regret it... it adds stability and cuts down exhaust heat going into the cabin significantly.

American Racing seem to currently be the favorite header ....

Great price, fit , sound and HP/Torque.
Others have posted dyno curves showing 30+HP gain.

the fit and quality of the american racing headers is extremely nice. they are not as long as some of the others out there so I could not tell you how they compare hp wise. Id believe that all are within a small range when youre buying quality headers. fit becomes more of an issue as does quality.

I'm running L.G. long tubes and love them. Easy to install and great horse power and torque gains. I've install other headers on C5's and the fit of the LG's are top notch.
