Telescoping Steering Wheel question
I have a '99 with about 75K miles. The telescoping has been working fine untill a few days ago. I have the wheel all the way forward. Recently it has been retracting all the way in when I hit the breaks! After I am done breaking I can push the button and it will come back. It does not always do it but most of the time it does now. Very annoying. Anyone have and answers or ideas? Thanks alot. Justin

Don't have a suggestion for this weird electrical/ecectronic problem but please post the answer if you get one. Sounds like a Dealership/tech II trip is in your future - pick a good one.

I will offer this one suggestion: The commands to it go through the SCM inside the driver's seat. I suggest that you look into and clean the 7-pin connector which is one of two that connects the seat to the car. There is a position feedback circuit in there as well as the commands. Carefully clean the contacts and be aware that I do not know if there is power on that connector with the car off. The car-side connector has male contacts, therefore possibly easy to short things out. If it doubt, disconnect the battery first.
