Finally, true C5 long tube headers!
Well we ae taking the car down to Ennis next Sat to run in the Fastest Corvette Shootout, (all engine. No Power adders), to see what it will do. I am a roadracer but we are going to give the 1/4 mile a shot and see what our
G-7 can do. ( Now if it was a Road Race, I would bet that I could out run all these 9 second cars because their NOS would run out in about 1 lap). :)
Then we will take the prototype headers off and send them to get "jigged".
It should only be about 4 to 5 weeks total before we get the first run. That will put us just into December.
Pricing will depend upon many factors. Obviously mild steel will be cheaper than stainless, but we are talking Corvettes here. Stainless would need no coating to look good, and would be much more durable. If we make some out of mild steel, they will need coating, andthey will not be as stong, although less expenssive.
I will keep you all posted on the Price and time frame. Thanks fo all the positive coments.

So I'm out driving through Plano tonight and see a Corvette coming up on me in the rearview. No big deal I think, Corvette's are a dime a dozen in the area. As he pulls up beside me I realize it's Lou in his G7 C5! I roll down the windows and give him a friendly wave when he hits it! The beast roared to life and I timidly roll on to my gas pedal. He soars off into the distance and I shut down at the top of the 1st - we're right in front of a church anyways.
Man those new long tube headers sure sounded great.

Right now the collector size shown is a 3 in. We can supply them with whatever size that you want. For the street, I am using the 3 inch. For the tack, we will use a 3.5 collector with a 2 into 1 merge collector to a down pipe.
we also have a Borla XR1 muffler if it is required.
I plan to un the 3.5 with the Borla XR1 and down pipe at the Texas Corvette shootout. this Saturday.
Godspeed, If you want to stop by, I will give you the dyno sheet, so you can post it on this forum.
Thanks,

There is no ground clearance issue. The collectors are only 1/2 inch below
The tunnel. The production headers will be adjusted to mount up higher.
We will incorporate better egr tubs/bracing, The filter and starter access are
ok, but I don't know about how much room is needed for the cooler fittings.
They look pretty nice! Did you have the cats removed on both dyno tests? The TPIS accomodate cats, but you said your did not at this time, so I assume that there were no cats on the second test.
Anyway, looking good.

The only modification that we will have to do is to move the collector up a bit. this won't change the "tune" of the headers. Both dyno runs were without cats. This is a large CI engine 418ci. When you see the dyno sheet, you will notice that the HP curve flattens out on top. This is an indication that the intake manifold can not keep up. We are going to do some work on the intake. It\f that is not enough, then we will build a fabricated aluminum intake.
As for the power on a stock C5, we will find out when we get the first run in. We may just install them on a stock C5 before we send them off to be jiged.
The cat issue will be addessed later, but we plan to make cats available.
