What gets affected when I remove and replace a battery on a C5? What needs to be re-set and are the battery removal effects instantaneous or do they take time?
Most of this info will be useful to me when it's winter storage time. Do you remove and store the battery (in a warm place) or use an auto trickle charger with the battery still in the car?
I'm not sure if my winter storage will have hydro.
Edit - just found out that there will be no storage hydro.

Reason: New info.
I replaced my A/C Delco recently and I may have lost the radio stations presets and the time settings, and possibly seat memory settings, don't recall sorry. I do remember that it was not really any problem initially or even in the long run. I do know that a low or weak battery will cause you more heartache than just replacing it with a new one. Do be sure and get the glass mat battery or equal. I was not a forum member when I replaced mine and I purchased a "regular" liquid filled battery and now I regret it.....I just need to find someone needing a new side post battery and I will give this one away. Where are you from anyway? If you are looking for good winter storage......I could suggest that you consider my garage here in sunny southern California? Our C-5's would not be lonely and I could "keep an eye" on yours during the winter....warm the oil from time to time, that sort of thing!
If you don't want to lose anything, you can buy a device that plugs into the cig lighter and takes a 9 volt battery that keeps power to the computer while you mess with your battery. You can buy it Pep Boys and probably any auto parts store. I've used one and it works.

I think all I lost was the time not even the presets (?)...
Sears Platinum is a great new AGM Battery...4 year 100% replacement warranty with 100 month prorated replacement....
One thing to be aware of ... if you have the Delco radio in the car, and TheftLock is turned ON (When the ignition is OFF a small red LED in the upper right corner of the radio will blink) then you will need the radio code once you disconnect the battery. After a battery disconnect the radio will display LOCKED until you input the code. So, either have the code, or disable the TheftLock feature BEFORE you disconnect the battery.
Zoozie,

From up here in The Great White North - Ontario Canada - where it gets colder 'n a witch's t*t. Thanks for the offer but as I'm retired can can I come down and stay in your garage too? I'll buy the beer.
Thanks to all on the battery disconnect answers. I guess it's no big deal.

I leave the battery in mine over the winter and just put a Battery Tender on it. But it doesn't get that cold here ... but if it was below freezing for extended periods, I'd consider removing the battery and keeping it charged in the house where it's warm.

That's what I found too. Not sure if you left the battery out for months, but you might lose station pre-sets then. I think I left mine out for a day and didn't lose the radio station pre-sets.

I have a kegerator in my garage can you sleep near that? There might be room for a cot between the C-5's, I do have a three car garage at least. I can Bar-B-Cue all winter long down here too and the Bar-B-Cue isn't frozen to the ground! I used to live in Oregon and I don't miss the freezing weather at all!
Huhh I can BBQ all winter too. A good BBQ is worth risking a little frostbite. Who needs ten toes anyway?
I love this forum! Zozzie, thanks for the laughs, buddy! I'll B-B-Q you a nice Tri-tip this winter and FedEx it to ya! Oh and try some of the UGG boots! I use them here during the winter when B-B-Quing!
