Hello, I have a 99 A4 Vert with 43k miles, sometimes when I am sitting in the vehice, say at a traffic light, gear shifter in Drive with my foot on the brake, I can hear a strange rumbling or growling sound coming from beneath the vehicle, and it stops when I put the shifter in Neutral or Park. Anyone have a clue what it could be? The only mods that I know of are a Borla exhaust and K&N FIPK. Please help....
I'm interested as well as my 2000 Coupe does this as well...i'm thinking its either and exhaust component vibrating against something or just the body vibrating somewhere somehow at lower RPMs...

Yes, I thought this as well, it does it very intermittantly (sp?). I hope it's something simple like that and nothing major. Car runs just fine other than that, it's more annoying than anything!
more than likely.. your exhaust is making the noise. But, if you are hard on your car or drag race it - it could be your torque tube bushings.
I bet it is the exhaust though.
