I am looking for input on the "get it right the first time" experiences. I would like to get the trans beefed up and wanted to know if anyone went this route and if it was a first time is a charm situation with no issues.
If you had a bad first round what was the problem? How and how fast was it handled.
I have a RPM tranny behind my setup and it has preformed flawlessly. The RPM guys are great to deal with too. Get one youll be glad you made the purchase
I have a built 6 speed from them and I couldn't be happier (2 years,21,000 miles, 550 RWHP). RPM's customer service is awesome and they are great to deal with. You can't go wrong with them!
I've never had any problems with 1st or reverse in any of my cars, with stock or RPM transmissions. I assume maybe you have some synchro/fork issues? Grinding when going into 1st/reverse? If so then yes I would assume a rebuild would fix the issues, since the synchros/forks are replaced.
i did however, have a warranty claim. the second day i had it the new trans kept popping out of 6th gear. but, rodney quickly made it right for me and sent me another trans immediately! the customer service after the sale was great!!! i did however had to do the job twice... it made for great practice
bottom line, you can't go wrong! the service and products are awesome!!!
Top Notch all the way at RPM. I have had mine for several years and drag race alot with no problems at all.
I'll say. What customer service! I had never shipped a transmission before and they even gave me directions to the closest Fedex Freight terminal and a shipping authorization so that I did not have to pay Fedex that night! No paper work!!
I only have maybe 1700 mi on the trans but it has been fine; I haven't drag raced at all yet.
Price was also very good--you don't have to pay the full level IV price if yours is in good shape. The published prices are sort of "worst case" if they have to replace a lot of stuff. With mine, they just had to do syncros, stronger billet keys (what broke!!), and I asked for steel shift fork and bronze pads.
If you don't want the trans painted black--tell them ahead of time--they do it automatically.
I have gone through three previous trans before RPM. I even picked up a spare from RPM, but have not needed to use it. It sits in my garage collecting dust, but i dont mind. get r done
Level V, 27000 miles, less than a year.....Reverse problems returned.
Talked to Ty at RPM....said I could pull the trans, mail it to them, they fix it and return it for labor and parts. Or, I can pull it, take pics, send pics to them, they figure what parts I need and I do it myself saving over 300 in shipping and God knows how much in parts and labor.
Something to think about. Other than reverse being jacked up after less than a year, gears one thru 6 are money.
I drove to RPM, from Buffalo NY 09/17/07 dropped the car off .Picked my car up 09/24/07,.. had my tranny rebuilt and upgraded to a LEVEL 5 I wanted a number matching car .TJ treated me good, The car is great to drive.
