My antenna on my convertible stays up 2 inches when the car/radio is shut off. It doesn't do it all the time, but is getting more frequent. The manual says not to lube it, just clean it. I have done that, with no help. Is there some lube that I can use to help the problem? Or is there some sort of adjustment? Or is it a replace? Thanks in advance.
my 99 vert was doing the same thing and i just pushed it down whenever i noticed it had hung up. i bought a spare antenna system with the thoughts of changing it some day but as i started to push it down it became less frequent and now seems to work fine. i would try pushing it down for a while to see if it gets better. if it doesn't, i bought a new oem one from thepartslady on the bay for $90 which seemed reasonable at the time.
Ok, I will probably get endless criticism over this....but, mine did that when I first owned my convertible and before I was a Corvette Forum member. Having said that, I took a paper towel with a light amount of WD-40 sprayed on it and wiped the antenna mast. Repeat as neccessary until the paper towel is clean. I have never had a problem since. Just repeat every now and then and you should be fine.
BTW, Did you all know that WD-40 got it's name as it was used in the Defense Industry here in San Diego? They had one of the owners on a TV news segment, and the name comes from the 40th formulation of a "Water Displacement" product, at the request of a defense contractor.
My former '96 Impala SS would occasionally do the same thing. I found there was some bug guts that prevented it from completely collapsing.
I used WD40 and 000 steel wool to clean the mast. Leave no WD40 residue on the mast to attract dust.

I did the exact same thing before I was a forum member also and it worked well Go figure.
My mast is OK but the cable snapped. You can get an OEM replacement mast from antennamastsrus.com shipped for less than $20.
Go to their website for instructions on how to replace it. It is NOT the GM DELCO antenna. Tghink it was made by Harada Call them if you have questions. They seem very knowledgable. BIGHANK
