Default Magnetic Selective Ride - problem

Not sure if its the MSRide or not, anyway how can I check it.
A friend with a C5 ( but not MSRide) came out in my car and said the ride was hard, feels as if bottoms out, hard on bumps in the road. I also have the normal runflats. I think I do have a problem any help please, I am in the UK so have many bumpy roads in the countryside. Thks

When these cars are shipped from the factory they have spacers that need to be removed. Most of the time the dealers take them out but alot of times they don't know about it. I would suspect that might be your problem.

I think if you do a search on shock stuffers you'll find a thread with some pics of them. They are located under each shock boot and should have a yellow strip hanging from the bottom of the boot down showing they are still installed. Had same problem with mine, took me about 20 minutes to go around and jack each corner up and remove them.. HTH

Very high probability the stuffers are in place. The MSRC almost never feels harsh.

Don't assume the dealer was smart enough to remove those "stuffers" during the prep.

I just bought my 5k mile '03 Anny vert 3 weeks ago. Driving it home from Houston we thought it was pretty stiff when we hit some of the bridge expansion joints on the freeway.

After reading the last 2 posts, I took it apart this morning and sure enough they were still in the shocks under the boots. The tell tale is a little flag @ 4" long with a yellow tip. You can feel it with out pulling a wheel but its a PITA to get them out with the wheel in place. You have to collapse the boot and pull the collar out from under it.

I just walked in from the test drive and THANK YOU "chaase", "50th year" and "rpm462" !!! I can't begin to tell you the ride difference it made.

Have to say thanks to all you guys, yes it was the spacers. Dealer in Houston left them in. Garage took them off today when the car was in for service. Cant believe the difference in ride, its great now thanks again for help and advice !!

Congratulations. I bet it feels like a new car.

It's amazing that we're still finding these installed almost 5 years later. Maybe in 20 years we'll see the numbers-matching show car crowd re-install them to mimic the as-delivered condition.

A tribute to the ole dealer prep........maybe they ought to have an idea of what they're prepping ?
