Default 405-420 rwhp on c5

With my current longtubes and PRC ported LS6 heads on an otherwise stock 2001 ls1 C5, what cam would give me a solid 410-415 rwhp.

Looking for something I don't need to change springs on every year hopefully.

Would it be TR224 or maybe a G5X1E

There's no guarantee of specific power level, but I'd go with the latter.

All I can say is that I have 420 rwhp with a 224/228 .112 +2. This is on an A4. All the mods are in my SIG.

918 springs are good up to 600 lift, 921 and dual springs go even higher on lift. 921 springs are a lot more than the 918 springs..but better insurance for greater lift.
As mentioned a 224/228 cam will get you what you want.
Good luck

Anything in the 222-226 range will get you there easily. I have ported stock heads with a 221/221 cam, with cats and everything and I put down just under 410rwhp.

Default Thanks

The 224/228 should be it. Thanks.

To the earlier question, I got a good deal on PRC stage 2.5 ls6 heads.

I have patriot S2 heads and a 228 228 .588/.588 112 cam "228R" with Kook's headers, UD pulley, Blackwing and got 420 rwhp/ 390 tq

I have the stock LS6 intake and a couple other things on there now that I'll be switching out to try to hit 440 which is NOT bad for Patriot heads.

Ported ls1 heads and a 224/228 cam got me well over your goal. With ls6 heads you wont need a big cam at all to easily hit your 405+ goal.

im at about 420rwhp on my stock heads with a 232/234 .595/.598 cam, this is in a Z06 though, great drivabilty and would recommend it to anyone, i didnt want to go in the 22X range because i knew i would want something bigger so from everything i read a cam in the low 23X is perfect

ive seen 22X cams make good power and sometimes more than the bigger cams on stock heads, but its the nearly 400rwtq that was the deciding factor on this cam, and i have over 350rwtq from 3500 up

My 228/232 .590/.588 112+4 with PRC heads put down 440 uncorrected and 412rwhp/394tq corrected.

The TR224 would definitely get you into that range. I have a similar cam (224/224 .581/.581 on a 112LSA with 4 degrees advance). I'm at 410whp/390tq through Texas Speed's Stage 2.5 5.3L heads. The really, really nice thing about this cam is its broad torque curve; its at 350tq and up from 2,500rpm. That, and it's somewhat mild-ish (at least compared to what a lot of guys are running). I was looking for something that would be a significant jump above stock at all points from 2,000 up to 6,500. Here's my before/after dyno.

P.S. The G5X1E was my second chioce. I have seen several guys running that cam with AFR heads getting 450whp consistantly through LS6 intake manifolds, and a guy hitting 470whp through FAST 90/90. I wound up going with the 224 for the lower end...
