Default 3600 to 4000 stall

I just had the trans built in my stock ls1 t/a, i wanted a 3200 stall but the tech. put a 3800-4000 stall in it. Will this slow my car down with a bone stock engine?

Huh? Maybe something is going on I don't understand but...

I have a 3600 stall from Yank and I know one guy here locally running a 4000 stall on the street. You have to be pretty serious about drag racing to run stall levels that high. You will get much higher fuel consumption with those stalls and the cars response will feel very loose on the street. On top of that you need a good set of slicks to even take advantage of the track performance those higher stall levels provide. I see no point in putting a converter in your car designed to get you sixty foot times in the 1.5x range when your street tires are no where near capable of that.

For a purely street car I would run no higher than a 3200 stall. Just my opinion.

Depends on who makes the hi-stall. I run a 3500 and can hardly notice the difference driving around town. Mashing the go pedal does make it noticeable tho. I don't understand someone installing something in your car without discussing it with you before hand.

A 3800-4000 stall isn't bad depending on the tune and which rear end ratio you have. With 3.15's, it'll be pretty sloppy. But with 3.73's or 3.90's and a good tune, drivability will be good.
As for fuel economy, it will suffer around town. But on the parkway it shouldn't change much at all.
And as long as you run a sticky tire at the track, drag radials or E.T. Streets, it'll DEFINITELY help, even with a stock motor. Add some bolt ons and low 12's shouldn't be a problem at all.

I'm running a 5000 stall on the street in my stock motored c5. It is a little loose.
a 4000 stall will help your car out of the hole with sticky tires. But, i will tell you that it is hard to keep the tires from spinning with stock tires !! If you like to burn rubber - you will have a blast. Put sticky tires on - you will be going faster than you were befor..........
