Lowered mine as far as possible on stock bolts and cut the front pads. Drove it for about two weeks, had it checked, alignment was OK. Good idea to have it checked, tho.
If you lower by springs they will take a little bit of time to settle and sag. I completely agree with BWATSONZ06. After about a week get an alignment. Most of the time there is a marginal difference if any at all but it's going to be cheaper than replacing tires.
I only lowered mine an inch. Since it needed be aligned after lowering, I took the opportunity to realign to Z06 specs.
Do you autocross your Vette? If not there really is no point in getting the Z06 alignment. Just causes more wear on the inside of the tires for daily driven Vettes.
Like I explained last night, It is a good idea to have it checked, but IN MY EXPERIECE, the 3/4" to 7/8" lowering does not impact the aligment to the extend it needs adjusted.
As I said, After I lowered the Z, I had the aligment "checked" and it "did not need adjusted". This car had been almost 40k miles and never wore tires improperly. However, after the "check", I wore out my fronts in less than 8k miles (to the threads!).
On Maggies car, they said it did not need changed, and was aligned fine after the lowering. It has not worn any tires improperly, but the dealer did scrape up two of the wheels.....
So you do what you need to do - that is my experience.

Reason: correct my "engrish"
Honestly I really think it just depends on your situation... I mean your car may have needed an alignment before lowering. Or by lowering you may have magnified the error in the alignment. With that being said, go to the alignment shop after you lower it to be safe.
remember what happened to my car when it was lowered??? i raised my about an inch and the steering wheel and camber was way off... even my rear alignment was off...
I lowered my car to the max on stock bolts and cut my front bushings. I drove it for a year before getting a wheel alignment and the tire wear was still excellent. However, eventually I took my car to the race shop that does alot of suspension development and chassis set-up for GM's race cars. They have a very successful C5 race team and John Heinricy of GM drives for their team. They put alot of work into doing an alignment right. Checked fuel level, simulated driver weight and adjusted ride heights and corner balances. The difference was amazing. I just have to think about where I want my car to be on the road and I can hit a dime and give you nine cents change. Well worth the dollars and effort.

Only if you still have runflats, that is the only reason for sticking with the regular C5 specs
