Mike,
I'm very interested in the Kumho ECSTA 712's that you mentioned in a previous post. Talked w/ Tire Rack and they don't have them in the stock
vette rear size and therefore don't recommend them. What sizes are you running and have you experienced any problem w/ having non-stock sizes? From your signature picture it looks like you're running stock 99 wheels on your FRC and that is my exact setup. Any and all information and/or suggestions appreciated. Thanks in advance.
I quizzed Mike a while back too. He's running the 275/35/18 rears - the largest size Kumho makes. Mike's car is a 6spd, so he doesn't have to really worry about the A4 shiftpoints being affected.
The only thing that bothers me about this size is the sidewall is quite a bit shorter than stock. And with being non-run-flat, I think rim damage is a more serious threat if you hit a hole.
He has had no problems at all with those tires, in fact the car handles/rides a hundred times better. Tire rack also gave him hell about getting the different sizes for the stock wheel. I'll will ordering those same tires soon.
