Differential Vent
Is there a vent of some type on the differential of the C5? I parked on an incline and noticed a small puddle of oil back by the differential. It normally lives in a fairly level garage and has not shown an sign of leakage. The puddle appeared after a normal 40 mile drive at highway speeds. I also just returned from a 1300 mile trip to San Francisco without incident. Any ideas??

Yes there is a vent on the top of the diff. If its over filled it will leak out of the vent. you can pull the fill plug at the back of diff & if it flows out it is too full. It should be filled just to the bottom of the filler hole.

Mine was leaking a little and the dealer installed a neat little hose atop the vent that runs up into the left rear fenderwell. Provides a little "breathing room" for those times when it wants to expand. Hasn't leaked since.
