If I buy a set of wheels for my car that come with tire sensors already in them, do I have to have them programmed to my car, or will they work when I mount them on the car?? I am buying some from a forum member and don't know if I need to use my original sensors off of my wheels, Or if I can use his sensors. No need in breaking down two sets of tires if I don't have too

Do a search and you'll find out how to re-program them. You will need a magnet.

The only issue is the year group of the cars the sensors are made to fit Vs the year of your car. Programming is easy if the years match as all you need is a cheap $1.00 magnet from Radio Shack to do the programming.

I think I will be keeping my own sensors and just put them in the new wheels.

if they are for the correct years of car, it doesn't matter

I see from your profile you have a 2000 Vette. If the wheels you are buying are from a 2001 or newer Vette you will have to use your old sensors. Sensors from '97-'00 are not compatible with an '01-'04 car and visa versa. But if the new wheels are within the same years as your car it would be more advisable to reprogram them once installed on your car rather than risk damage during the sensor remove/install.
