Give Gene @ GMPartsHouse.com a call to verify this but I believe GM replaced the LS1/6 chains with the LS2 chain and so the numbers are probably showing the number change for the new part. If I remember correctly, I read this when the LS2 first released and I'm not even certain you could buy the older part number anymore.

To answer your question though, the LS2 chain is different than a stock LS6 chain.

Thanks a lot for all the help guys. I really do appreciate everything. my car is getting ready to go to the shop this SAT. so the car should be finished around thursday next week. It will get tunned on a mustang dyno so the HP numbers will be definetly a little bit off. What matters to me most is to have a great car to take and crusie in and than again have a beast under the hood when needed.

I went with:

T.E.A Stage 2.5 heads
007 Speed Inc Cam - 228 222 .588 .581 114.5
Long Tube Headers
Ported LS6 Throttle Body
ASP Underdrive Crank Pulley
Zip Tie Mod - Im keeping this just for the most stock look I can get.
160 Thermostat
Borla Stinger Cat Back
X pipe and no Cats of course.

And of course:

Ported Oil Pump
LS2 Chain
Comp Cam Push Rods
and all the little things to keep the car running

I will have the dyno number and 1/4 mile numbers as soon as the car comes out of the shop.
Last Year I ran a 11.9 at 119mph with drag radials and a zip tie mod other than that bone stock.
We will see what will happen this year.

What is the best rim/tire combination to run? Last year I ran on an 18inch BFG DR this year im thinking to go with a 17inch wheel.

Hey man! You where haulling azz in a 01 going 11s with just the zip tie mod, like wow

Are you running OEM Z rims? A track set of Z rims is great, as yuo can use them for HPDE with some scuffed up SC tires, and, the best part IMO, is use the 17s with some MT ET Street radials, 265 40 17s (maybe 275, been 3 years since I got my set...). They are awesome and I dropped.2 short by just going to these from a 295 35 BFG.

Man, with you going 11.9s with the zip and bfgs, get some et streets and nail the launch and you should be low 11s, maybe 10s. Your OEM clutch will not like the 4 to 4.5k launches on ET streets, but, the ET might be worth it. Awesome man and I will be for your results.
Dave
PS I say 440 ish as the cam is kinda small, but, I would rather see your ET the RWHP, as you are getting it done at the track!

Wow man Thanks A lot so you saved .2 just from going into a thiner tire??? or did you go to a smaller tire to?? Was the BFG a 18inch??? I ran on 18inch BFG last year and this year will go on Camaro SS 17 inch wheels with the ETs I think. The shop Im going with has a mustang dyno and will do a quarter mile run on the car. The dyno gets within .2 seconds of what the car will really do at the track. But I say it's the driver and Im hoping to put the car into the 10s by the end of the season. Maybe a Fast 90 and a little extra will help like a clutch and a gear.

THanks a Bunch for the info

ok the car is finally at the shop and should be done in about a week or so. I have one problem "The Clutch" will the stock ZO6 clutch hold the power???? I had some sticking woes before but a simple drain and clutch fluid fixed the problem after some runs at the drag strip. What do you guys think?? What should I do??? New Clutch?? I have 28K on mine as of right now.

Hey man!
Sorry for the late response as I have been in Richmond running in the Carolina Auto Masters Mid-Atlantic Corvette Challenge

Wow I am tired as that was a long drive hime, but Jeff kept me cracking up and talking about the next BIG mods

YEs Sir, BFG 295 18 to a MT ET Street Radial, 17 265 40 (I think, they are in the garage, and I have not run them in 2 years maybe?).

My shorts went from a 1.83 to a 1.59, same track, OEM clutch, LG Pro Lts and a tune. The only change was the tires

Yes, I was not laucnhing the BFGS worth a crap, but the ET streets helped me finaly launch the car a bit. Funny thing, is yestersay, I could not get a launch to save my life... spinning 1.6s or spinning 1.56s WTF happened to my 1.46s???

Take care mna, gota eat

I wish I hit 1.5s. I know once you go 1.4s Its not the same but looking at me running my best time with a 1.810 60 thats redicalous. for me being in the 1.5s would feel ohhh so good. hehehe

Hey dave is there a video of that track day somewhere where you went???

Thanks
