I have never been down a real drag strip before. Could someone give me some advice on how to get a good et on a 98 M6 (the only mod, a low cost CAI) with the least possible wear and tear on the car. At what RPM should I dump the clutch. Should I have my traction control on or off? How much et will not power shifting cost me? I will shift at 6K? How much fuel in the car would be best? Will 94 octane help et ? What would be the best tire pressures for my stock run flats? What gear will I finish the 1/4 mile in? Is 13.0 possible? (That is my goal) Thanks for all the help.
shallow stage the car. roll up to the lights very!!! slow till you just turn on the first set of lights than creep foward till the second lights fliker on. it gives you a rolling start and better 60ft

There are a couple links in my signature to write-ups that may help.
I'd suggest cleaning up your clutch fluid as a preparatory step.
Next I'd suggest reading the C5Z06 Launch Technique thread.
Then the General Launch Guidance page.
Finally, I'd watch this video. You can omit the burnout. But it shows the three element launch that I write often about.
Key goals for the first day at the drags include:
(1) Safety first; no wall incidents
(2) No breakage due to driver error
(3) No missed shifts
(4) One pass within .60 of the Chevy quarter-mile spec for your car.
After doing the reading, post specific questions you may have.
