What would be a good cam choice for an 98 A4 if you did not want to swap out the converter? The car has 3.15 gears now. Also would a under drive pulley be a good add on while doing the cam?
Something like 218/224//57x58x//115 would be a good cam. Give you some power, but still keep it very 'drivable'. If you are doing a cam swap, an under drive pulley would also be good along with a LS6 or ported oil pump and a new timing chain. Those parts have to come off any ways to do the cam swap. You should also upgrade your valve springs to handle the new cam. You can most likely reuse the current stock push rods, but a set of harden ones is only $100.

Will work great with stock converter, make great low end torque around, over 300, around 2000-3000rpm. Also would work well with restrictive stock exhaust manifolds if you don't have longtubes yet or don't want them, but would be fine with longtubes. High lift to take advantage of head flow, but just mild enough to not need dual springs if you want to run comp 918s.

I would recommend the MTI Stealth II cam or the LPE GT2-3 cam for you. Both work well with a stock stalled A4 car and both have very good low end and nice street manners. If you already have full exhaust then I would recommend you add an LS6 intake, 25% U/D pulley, P&P Throttle Body, 160* T-Stat, new Timing Chain, ported LS6 oil pump, pushrods, and upgraded valve springs to handle the extra cam lift. Those additions cost a little more money but are well worth it and the springs and pushrods are a must when installing a new cam. The stock pulley, timing chaing, and oil pump have to come off anyway so why not upgrade them while you are in there. Hope this helps!
