I got a check engine light today and the code is P0443. What does that mean and whats the most likely problem. Its a 2000 coupewith only 30k miles on it. Thanks in advance
...in the DTC indicates a Purge Valve C FAULT in the EVAP Emission Control System.
Maybe another more-experienced Forum member will provide your best option to cure this situation....could be as easy as tightening or replacing a worn seal gas cap.
Codes that start X0xxx (Where X=B,C,P,U and xxx=3 digits) are defined by the OBD2 standard and are common to ALL cars with OBD2. In other words, whether a GM vehicle, a Mercedes, or a Toyota, a P0443 is a Purge Valve fault in the EVAP system.
Codes that start with a digit otther than "zero" are defined by the manufacturer. So a P1555 might be a failure in a coil on a GM vehicle, and may be a failure of the Mass Air Flow Sensor on a Mercedes.
