used the Diablo Predator and set the Performance setting in my 2004 A4 convertible, just installed LG headers, 9.5" torque converter, 373 gears, twin cone air filters, car runs great but, if I get on it while the Active Handling is on, (as when forgetting to turn it off), the car hits the rev limiter going into second gear, everything is set to shift sooner, it's set to shift at the recommended 35MPH or 6400RPM's, whichever comes first. It doesn't work like this if the active handling is on, when it's off, the car is awesome and shifts like it should. Is this the normal way of the Predator? If so, then I'll have to remember to turn off Active Handling when I get ready to 'use' the car. I'm glad that there is a rev limiter, I just don't want to hit it when I feel that the car should shift....Thanks for any help guys, this is a great Forum....
One other thing, the car IS spinning the tires in first and even when it goes into second with the Active Handling ON, so is this a cause? I thought that A.H. is supposed to stop the spinning? I'm new to Corvettes, but will always have one now! Thanks!!
I have Predator installed but my 01 is mostly stock (Z51, Auto with Vararam, Corsa Indy, Predator and that’s about it). Mine shifts the same no mater if AH is on or off. I would think yours would do the same.
IMO 6400 rev. limit seems too high unless you have H/C that can handle it. I don’t race so I don’t see any reason to ever get above 6K.
With the few bolt-ons I do have my traction control does not help as much as it did when it was stock. It’s like it has a 3 second delay now. It really noticeable when it shifts into second at 3/4 to WOT. I have to be careful when I take on-ramps since it will cause the rear end to kick out before AH kicks it. And it always will bark for 1 or 2 seconds when it shifts into second. I also need new tires (not bald but almost to the wear indicators). I hope if I buy sticky Z06 size tires/rims it will really keep me planted - perhaps your in need of wider/sticker tires as well.
I would post in the Scan and Tune section so see what results you get on this subject.

Just a guess here, but do you mean you are getting traction control to come on during the 1-2 shift, or are you really hitting the rev limiter? When you first start the car, your traction control (TC) and active handling (AH) are always on. If you hit the TC/AH button, it turns both off. If you hold the button down for 5 sec or more, it only turns the TC off but leaves the AH on. I have a feeling you are spinning on your 1-2 shift and the TC is coming on and chopping the power. To verify, Hold the TC/AH button until it says competetive driving on the DIC, then you will still have AH, but no TC. Then you should be able to shift and get some spin without the TC coming on and spoiling your fun.
The TC only controls the rear wheel spin by letting off the throttle. The AH controls each brake caliper to keep you going in the correct direction on the road.
In my 01 MN6, I have to turn off TC or go to CD mode or my TC comes on during the 1-2 and 2-3 shifts and it bogs for a second. It usually displays "traction control" when it happens. I hate it because sometimes I need to 6-3 shift on the freeway to GO, and I get some wheel spin unless I sit there for 5 seconds first and go into CD mode. I would just turn it all off, but no way am I gonnna risk spinning out at 80 mph on the freeway
If you are losing traction before the shift you will hit the limiter. You have two choices.
1. Get better tires. I run Nitto DRs (305/35/18) and get good traction on the street.
2. Lower your shift point. You should have at least 300 rpm between your shift point and the rev limiter. I would keep the limiter at 6600 rpm and lower the shift point to 6200 rpm. I found this to be the optimum shift when I had a setup simular to yours.
Set the global rev limiter to 200 RPM more than your WOT shift RPM setting.
To determine your WOT shift MPH... place your A4 in "1" and take the car up to the desired shift RPM... and note the MPH.
Then set the 1-2 WOT shift MPH to 2 mph below that noted figure (as a starting pioint - later to be tweaked).
Do the same in "2" and note the MPH at the desired shift RPM, again setting the WOT 2-3 shift MPH to 2 mph below the noted figure.
