Default Go Pure Power Filter

Wasn't sure which forum to post this in so I posted in the General Section as well...sorry for the double post but I'm really trying to find some more info on this.

I'm due for an oil change in the vette and was thinking about using the Go Pure Power oil filter. From what I've read and seen it seems to be the way to go but I'm hoping someone in the forum has used it. It's not cheap but the results compared to a standard filter seem far superior.

Here's the web site link www.gopurepower.com

Let me know what you all think.

Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance

I can't imagine cleaning an oil filter! Where do you dump dirty wash fluid? How to backflow? How long to dry?

To pay $160+ for a reuseable oil filter is crazy to me. There are so many great oil filters out there for under $7. I use a WIX, used to use DELCO Premium UPF. The UPF filtered great, but did not flow well. Remember if your filter filters well it will not flow well. If you want excellant filtering and great flow, try a secondary "bypass" filter, but I think they are un-necessary. Here is a link to one:

You asked for opinions, this is mine.

I echo this opinion. I use the Amsoil EaO and according to oil analysis provides better results than the Delco UPF, Baldwin, and K&N.

I've used System 1 oil filters in the past and cleaning is NOT fun. Additionally, I was never certain I got everything out of the element. The first pass efficiency is very low compared to the new synthetic element filters. You don't want to sacrifice too much flow for filtering efficiency because it's this that will keep you away from expensive bottom end rebuilds.

The critical spec to observe in oil filters is the first pass efficiency. I haven't been able to find any SAE tests on this filter and as a result am very weary of it.

I've used the re-usable filters in past frame off modified tri five Chevy cars and Harley Davidson motorcycles. I like the idea of less waste in landfills and leakage into the ground. I also like the idea of being able to actually see what's being trapped inside the oil filter rather than having to cut a metal filter open. Cleaning them is easy since most are very fine stainless steel mesh. Most of them have the capacity of filtering finer grit than off the shelf filters. The "dirty wash fluid" was simply dumped into my waste oil container and periodically taken to CHECKER or AUTOZONE for free disposal.
The biggest obstacle in using one on a Corvette would be size for ground clearance. The second obstacle is the cost. The re-usable filters I used cost less than $100 and lasted me years. The cost of that particular filter is quite high...you'd have to decide if the cost is worth it to you.
