Default Heads Up Display - Too Low...Adjustable??

I have tried to adjust my HUD on my 2001 c5. I used the "display" button on the left side.

It raises and lowers, but even at it's highest I can only see the top half.

Any suggestions??

Thanks in advance guys.

Sounds to me like the projector may be misaligned.

Thanks for the replies.

The seat has always been the same position. Have had the car almost a year now. I used to be able to see it fine.

Is the projector adjustable? If so, any idea how and where it may be located?

Thanks again guys

Re-Aiming the HUD can be done, but it's a very touchy job, small parts. I took mine apart and adjusted it lower so that I could see it while sitting very low in a race seat.

Is this done on the display area on the dash?

Thanks

No, the work has to be done deep inside the HUD unit out on a bench...really really apart

Jeremy,

I have no experience with adjusting the internal components of the HUD projector, but I can tell you how to mechanically adjust it to correct the problem you have described. To make this adjustment, you will need to disassemble much of the interior; glove-box, console, center radio trim, dash-board, etc. This is how I have done it.

If your car was factory equipped with a HUD, it can be mechanically adjusted. The projector is fastened in at three points. Two at the base of the windshield and a third at the rear of the projector that attaches it to the aluminum brace that supports the column and cluster.

The rear most attachment point is actually a slot that allows the rear of the projector to be raised or lowered. What you are describing can be compensated for by loosening the rear attachment bolt and raising the projector. If this screw were to come loose, the rear of the projector could drop and the result would be as you have described.

Some that have retrofitted a HUD to an early C5, and do not have the slot in the brace, will drill a hole in the brace to attach the rear most part of the HUD projector. This can easily be routed to a slot which will allow for more adjust ability. When I installed the HUD in my 2000 hardtop, I found it already had the rearmost slot to attach the projector. I did however test the HUD installation before reassembling the interior. This allowed me to make a small adjustment to the projector installation which gave me full up-down adjust ability to my HUD.

Good luck, and if you have any questions, feel free to PM me... GUSTO

Default I'm too tall for a HUD

I drove several C5s with the HUD and NONE OF THEM were visible unless I shrugged my shoulders and sunk down below my natural height.
I'm 6'3" and picked a convertable for the head room. Got whacked on the head in a coupe and even though I fit in the Z06 didn't like the non-sport seats. Might have looked for a HUD if I thought I could adjust it like you are describing here. Any other TALL ONES IN HERE that can relate to this? BIG(tall)HANK

Something's not right. I'm 6'2" and the HUD will adjust way up and down, plainly visible no matter how "tall" I try to sit. Maybe your seat sits higher, or maybe my skinny butt cheeks let me sit lower, but there's lots of adjustment above and below my vision level.

Default 6'3" and not shrinking yet

Have my seat all the way down and all the way back and have pulled the side lever to let the backrest go back further. All I can say is I drove several HUDs and could just barely see then by shrinking down in a very uncomfortable position. BIGHANK
