I posted another thread about my clutch being stuck to the floor and leaking alot of fluid. Recently the throwout bearing was making a weird "chirping" noise with the clutch pedal out, could the bearing have completely gone? I'm thinking this might be my problem here. Where is the best place to buy one from, and is there any heavy duty ones out there?
Sounds like it's a possibility. (be it this is my exp from my stang) When it went bad it didnt hint at me like yours might be. It just started chirping one night at a cruise in and then about 5 minutes after pulling out the chirp became a squeal and it got hot enough to start frying the grease around it. Needless to say when we got it out...it about fell apart in my hands.
I've read on another forum that Centerforce makes a TO bearing that replaces the factory one. It costs $80, and I don't know if it's actually any better.
It has been my experience that the throw-out bearing will make more of a roaring sound and the pilot bearing makes a chirping. Both can fail. And if you are replacing one, you should replace the other as well. there are a couple of heavy duty versions, McCeod makes one, but you will find that almost everyone recommends using a stock Z06 units.
Your pedal may be sticking to the floor because of the leak. You need to find your leak.
Yes there is a throw-out bearing mounted on the end of the slave. It might be a different design than what you are used to seeing, but it is a TO bearing and the functions are the same.
