I just picked up my first vette, a m6 98 convertible that is all stock. I am looking at upgrading the exhaust first but am not sure what brand to go with....Borla, Corsa (Indys), SLP, MAC, Granatelli, etc. Also, how much horsepower can you gain from just the cat back exhaust??? Thanks!
I just picked up my first vette a couple months ago and was asking to same question. Based on the feedback I got I went with B&B bullets (aka billy boat) they are supposed to be loud which is exactly what I wanted and sound awesome. They aren't on the car yet, they are sitting in my buddies shop awaiting install. Check you youtube.com for better sound clips. I wouldn't recommend the slp loudmouths. I've heard them on a vette and in my opinion sound like garbage but to each their own right.
If you want pm later on this week and see if I put mine on and I will let you know what I think from first hand experience.

You can pick up a couple over the stock system!
I went with the Z06 Titanium exhaust - The weight saving's alone is worth it! IMHO!
It is a chambered exhaust and has no packing plus you should be able to pick up a set for around $400.00 w/ and or w/out shipping!
When you use the TI Z06 exhaust it keeps it real mellow inside the cab when you go to LT's and Hi-Flow Cats w/ X-Pipe = NO DRONE!
Stingers sound great and look great but they drone. Corsa Indys sound great and look great and no drone. Best bet is to find some owners nearby and listen for yourself. Happy hunting

Also I forgot to mention about power gains. The best advise I was ever given is don't look for horsepower gains from a cat-back. Yes you might get a bit but nothing worth worrying about. Do a cat-back for sound and if you want power out of your exhaust, do long tubes and an x.
Forget the rest and go with the best...GHL. Find a club and listen to them all...at idle, cruise and WOT, both inside and outside the car, and with, and without, headers, if possible. That's what I did. There is no comparison, IMHO.

I'm running the GHL Magnum's and love them. My has an s/c, cam, worked heads, and long tubes and I don't have any drone. Love the way they sound!
Can't beat the power and exotic sound of B&B Bullets with American Racing Headers. CAUTION>>>>> they will drone with headers. If you don't want drone, don't get the bullets. Go corsa.

Just had bullets installed on Monday. Car sounds sick, not a lot of drone, and look amazing on the car.
Seems like a lot people like the Corsa Indys. I'll look into that system.
Anyone use any kind of flowmaster system? Like it???
they do have a great sound and no drone in idle or while at the wheel. Go to the web sites available for a demo and see if you can attend a vocal vette club meeting for a sound comparison of the system on cars at the meeting..
