Default Slow to take off when passing.

I have a totally stock 1998 C5 with auto tranny. When I go to pass someone there is a slight hesitation before downshifting. Will a tune get rid of this?

And if so, who would be prefered to do it mail order? (No tuners close by.)

Try shifting manually into 3d. Won't hurt the tranny.

Yes a tune can fix that! I don't know if I would send away for a tune though??? Or get one of the portable tuners (Predator etc) and change it yourself.

I realize that will work but was wondering if a tune would change this.

Switching to a M6 will also help.

Tune will help, but Gears and a Torque Convertor are much better...

Does the 98 have active handling? my buddy's 99 has it and when you turn it off the hesitation goes away.

Default Mine hesitated with light acceleration at 40 60 MPH

Cleaned the MAF and TB and hesitation seemed to go away. About 3 weeks later returned. Replaced plugs with 41-985 Iridiums and new Red Perfomance wires and solved the problem for good. You night want to do these things before trying to tune a car that needs some maintenance. BIGHANK

It does not have the active handling.

I am trying to keep this car as original as possible. Any mods I do I would like to be able to remove easily.

And as for the six speed, I would trade for one in heartbeat if I could find on in the shape this one is in. (People that don't know their Vettes think this is brand new!)
