Default Dual zone climate control operation

I recently bought a '98 with the whiz bang dual zone climate control. Here's the deal: what I want to do (and typically do in my other car, and have always done) when it is reasonably cool out is put the air on "vent" setting to let the outside air in. I do not want it heated at all. With a regular climate control, I turn the hot/cold dial to cold, turn the vent on, and I'm set. I get in the car the next time, and it's still on.

Can this be done with the dual zone system? Every freakin time I want to do this, I hit the outside air button, and the a/c always comes on with it. Then I have to hit the a/c button to turn it off, and it's a royal pain in the neck.

Anyone have a solution for this??

Yup, set it just the way you want it, then save that to the seat memory! It remembers your A/C settings for the next time. I do it the same way you do when it's cool outside. Fan on outside air, temp set to 60, and fan on medium. Then hit the memory seat save for your key number....
Save the wave! Doc

I did that, but if it's more than 60 outside, it turns the a/c on. I don't want it to turn the a/c on.

The whiz bang dual zone climate control sometimes has a mind all of its own. Looking back at all the problems I have had with this system, personally would have preferred the regular AC. The climate control is pretty much the only thing I hate about this car.

I hate that too. I think they made it default to have the AC come on when the fan is turned on. This way if your car were to fog up inside during a storm, as soon as you hit the fan, the ac would automatically come on to dry the air and get rid of the fog as fast as possible without you having to fumble around and hit the ac button.
But yeah its a pain in the butt.
