C5 heads up display question
What is involved in adding the options of heads up display to a C5 convertible which does not already have the option.
How much is the unit new/used? How to install it? How much effort is involved? Is a new dash top needed?
Thanks Joe

What year is Your c5 ? 97-99 haven`t got HUD output on the clusters, 01 - on had.
Depending what year is Yours You need :
- HUD projector
- Bezel
- Cluster if necessary !!! and new harness
- Switch
You don`t need new dashboard
To fit it You have to strip whole interior (incl dash) and cut a hole for projector, it`s marked on the dash were to cut !
That`s it. Cost ? as far as I remember around 400-500$ ?

this would be for 1999
so is it easier for a 1999....I am not sure of the details of your description...the whole interior comes out or just parts of the interior?

late 99 - 04 are ok for retrofit HUD
You have to remove the dashboard to cut for projector , but to be able to remove it , You have to remove center console trims etc. SO it`s actually every trim inside.

second half of MY99
This year is tricky, You have to remove cluster to find out is there 11 or 7 pin plug. 11 is HUD ready , 7 isn`t

HUD installs are easy!!!
The hardest part of a HUD install is cutting the dash pad.
You do not need to take apart the interior. Only the console, a few pieces on the dash and dash pad. It's very simple.
I have a '00 and the install was very easy. Make sure when you buy everything you get the cluster to Projector harness. That is very hard to find on it's own.
I would contact PaceThis or Gene@carshop for the parts. Both are standup people. There are step by step instructions (
