How much horsepower can a stock ls1 bottom end handle and still be somewhat reliable? I already have h/c setup and was thinking either 383 stroker or a supercharger depending on what kind of answers I get off the forum. Thanks
There's quite a few members running supercharger setups on stock bottom ends and they are putting out between 480-530whp. I would personally supercharge mine with a low boost kit (6-7 psi LS1, lower for LS6) without forging the bottom end. But if I felt the need to do a pulley swap/alky etc for more power, I would go forged for the peace of mind.
With heads/cam + stroker + supercharger... sure you could do it. Depends on how you drive it really. Nobody puts on those kinds of mods and drives modestly though.
I think the cap bolts that hold the connecting rods to the crankshaft are only rated at 500 hp. I'm pretty sure you're supposed to replace those if you get any higher. I also heard that forged pistons will through off the knock sensors.

I completely disagree. You would be very surprised, like myself for example. I literally baby my car, no burnouts, no hard driving, and no tracking, even though I have tons of power. I know I am not the only one out there either.
