a/c howling noise???

a/c howling noise???
for the last two days i have noticed when i have my a/c on and blowing high i get a howling or sounds like a whistle noise but when i turn it down the noise will go away. I am running the a/c pulling ext air when it happens wheni go to internal air the sound will go away?

where is the noise coming from? Under the hood or in the cab? If its in the cab it could be the motor. I think the fan motor is up behind the glove box. Or one of the valves that change the direction of air could be stuck partially open. I would try to find out exactly where the noise is coming from.
