Yes, I've had to change the lamps in mine. Like any lamp, they won't last forever. With the right lamps, a soldering iron and knowledge of how to use one, you can indeed change the lamps. I suggest that you change them all at the same time as you will be having others burn out soon enough anyway. The proper lamp is a 70ma@12vdc. Some people said they found some 65ma or 60ma at RadioShack.

It takes a little more to remove the insulation and unsolder the leads, but it will work perfectly for brightness. I will also suggest that you replace the ones in the HVAC controller as well at the same time.
