Is this located in the door?
Access? Panel pulls off?
Where to get a motor?
Thanks,
Max
The motor is located in the door and you have to remove the inner door panel to get to it. There is a plastic cover inside the inside door handle that covers some screws that you need to pop off.
You can buy the motor at gmpartsdirect.com or gmpartswarehouse.com
Are you sure your motor is dead? Sometimes people have trouble with the module or sometimes the window sticks if it is not used. Sometimes you can hold the "window up" button and bang on the door until it works again.
I replaced my power window motor and regulator a few months back. Turns out the job was much easier than I thought. The door has a much bigger access hole than some of the cars I've worked with, and the cable-style regulator is much easier to install than the old school scissor type. My old third gen Firebird left my arms cut up...I don't think I'd do it again.
I referred to this LINK (for installing new door pulls) to get the door panel off, and the rest is pretty simple. There are two bolts that secure two clamps on the window, and four bolts that hold the regulator in place. Once the door panel is off you can see where everything goes. When installing the new assemby, I just made sure that it was adjusted the same as the old one and tweaked it from there.
I picked up a used assembly off of eBay for $120 or so.
