Charging system questions?
Having what I think may be some issues. Car is a 00' with 21,000 miles, on the second batter -- replaced in Aug 05. I am seeing some differences in the charging system voltage on the DIC. The other night it was reading 13.2-13.3 volts. I charged the battery when I came home. Then the next night I start it up, on startup it reads 14.1-14. Driving a bit it has dropped to 14.0 - 13.9 and then after a stop at the store it was 13.8 on the way home. I was only running the radio. When I got home in the driveway I turned on the HVAC and saw it dip some more -- this is with the car at idle. I have read several of the other threads on charging system and plan to check the grounds, etc, but just from this description does this sound like an issue or is this normal operating? Also, if the battery is not fully charged on start up, shouldn't the alternator charge it up fully?
