How's the rod angle on a setup like that? How long can the motor go before it ovates the bore and oil consuption abounds?

Is this a re-sleeved block? If so, what system are you using to do it?

I've got their 427 which is a sleeved (darton) LS6 that I drive as a daily driver (over 60 miles per day) with well over 15,000 stop and go miles. Never a problem with driveability and plenty of torque (500+).
I can't really imagine how much more a 454 will put to the ground but I sure would like to try!

Were my questions too technical? Once you get much over a 4" stroke you get into some funny territory.

I wouldn't think the stroke would be a problem, provided the bore was large enough to accommodate it

I know MTI knows their stuff... but almost every builder I've spoken with says that once you get into the super stroker territory you can expect more frequent rebuilds and oil consumption.

W/ a super long stroke piston/rod angle goes up. W/ some motors w/ the piston at BDC, the rod angle is such that it creates a lateral force on the cylinder wall.

What's so special about a 454? Not to be a jerk, but a Darton MID or even dry sleeved LS2 has been available for quite a while. 4.185" bore and 4.125" stroke gets you to 454. With close attention to the ring combination and piston design, a 4.125" stroke is not all that bad.

Or, a new World Warhawk or GM LSX running 4.2" bore with a 4.100" crank will give 454 as well. The World block is fairly new, but the other options have been around.

I have seen quite a few "budget" LS7-block-based 440 builds using a 4.100" crank from Compstar that's also making it's way into the 454 builds using the LSX or Warhawk. Apparently, Compstar/SDPC came up with a piston and ring package that seems to work pretty well.

I'd still like to see the results. Hopefully some LS7 heads and manifold power it well past 600rwhp with a hydraulic cam.

Yes it does, unless you run a tall deck block and longer rods.
