Default Click! Then dead...

Last weekend I had an appointment and parked the car.

Came out and went to start it. One very short CLICK and no start. Security light was off and the car was dead.

Thought I left something on and got a jump, started right up.

No problems, drove it home and drove it a few more times.

Tonight, same thing, one CLICK, no start. Pull the key, reinsert, starts right up.

I did an HPDE last weekend....extreme heat from headers warming up the starter and maybe loosening the cable?

Nothing works, no lights, no nothing...then it just starts.

Any place to look?

thanks

I would check the battery terminal connections. Loosen them slightly and then retighten.

Could it be the resistor in the key not making good contact or possibly wearing out?

This is most likely it. The exact same thing happened to me. I jiggled the ground wire at the battery and it was loose. It was enough to start it and get me home where I could tighten it. Problem solved.
