The C5/Z06 bolts are to long to remove w/o cutting/dressing them (protect the threaded spring inserts against damage) or removing the spring for R&R.
A site supporting vendor called HARDBAR makes replacement bolts and DELRIN bushings that might work for you as well. They reportedly can go even lower if that's your choice. They don't recommend that for obvious reasons. Their product has a large hex head instead of the oem small 10mm hex head. The DELRIN bushings are removeable, so once you cut the old bolts out, you could thread these stainless bolts in from the top and into the threaded bushing. www.hardbarusa.com

I know a few people who have add the c6 bolts up front and they worked great. I have the bolts, just haven't got around to installing them.

you can cut 2/3's of the bushing to achieve similar results

Yeah, but if you ever want to return to stock height, you'll need new bushings.

Default C6 vs. Hardbar

I had my car lowered all the way on stock bolts and it wasn't nearly as low as some other cars I've seen. So I ordered the Hardbar replacements, removed my stock bolts (without needing to cut them) and put the Hardbar bolt/bushing in as low as it would go and the car is maybe a tiny bit lower than it was. C6 will be my next try, they look thinner in the WCC pix.

The delrin "bushing" on the Hardbar unit is just about as thick as my 6 yr. old stock bushings are. Granted my car is an '01 and I'm sure they've compressed a bit from their original height (never cut though).

...removed my stock bolts (without needing to cut them)...
How did you manage to remove the stock bolts w/o cutting them? Were the bushings completely removed?
I wouldn't think based on what I've read that you can put that much tension on the spring end to remove them.

Sure you can. I have C6 adjusters in the front of my z51 vert. Did a search in the tech archives and with the control arm hanging and a jack and wood pressing up on the outer end of the spring there is enough room to thread the C5 adjuster out the bottom, and thread the C6 back in it's place. This works the same as cutting the c5 bushing as the C6 bushing is only about 3/8 of an inch thick.

This is exactly how I got mine out. Not difficult at all. Directions used were found in the archives.

What is the ideal method for cutting the stock bushings while they are installed?

I think some have used a sheet rock saw...doesn't seem "ideal" though....maybe one of those fine tooth little saws used to cut door jamb molding when tile is installed?
If the bolts are as easy to remove as suggested, I'd think removing them and cutting them cleanly would be better.

when removing them, what is the proper location to place jack stands and where is the proper place to support spring/control arm, etc? basically, how do you do it?
