Default Tire pressure sensor problem

After just over 3 years I have finally had the misfortune of getting a nail in one of my tires. My question is this. The DIC reads that the Left Rear is flat. That would lead me to believe that it is the drivers side rear. However, it is the passenger rear that is flat. My question is this, are the sensors programmed to know where they are supposed to be. I had my tires replaced last year and am wondering if they switched what side the rims are on. Thanks in advance

Once you enter programming mode your supposed to go from left front to right front then to right rear and finish at the left rear. So it sounds like yours were programmed backwards or the rear wheels were swapped.

I would deflate one of the front tires and see what the DIC shows.

And by that I mean slowly let the air out, you don't need to jam a screwdriver thru the sidewall

Remember, you must drive the car BEFORE it updates the tire pressure.

Your wheels could have been switched. Since tires are directional (see arrows), you must reprogram TPSs if you switch the location of wheels.

You said you had your tires replaced last year. My guess is that when they took the tires off of your wheels they left the sensors in place on the wheels. Then they mounted new tires on the wheels. However they were not careful to note where on the car each wheel needed to go.

This is really no big deal because they could have run the sensor learn process after the new tires were put on to make sure they had it right. But it appears they did not. This is done by putting the car in learn mode through the DIC and placing a magnet in front of each sensor in the proper order. The magnet causes the sensor to transmit it's unique ID to the car which then registers its location. This assumes you activate the sensors in the order the DIC tells you to.

Just fix the flat and then run the sensors through the learn process. It is also possible to re-organize which sensor is where with a Tech II.
