They are on different radio frequencies. The 1997-2000 are series I TPS, they are realtime updating while car is rolling. They last about 7 years or 100,000 miles.
2001 and up are Series II, they don't update realtime, they sample, but not to worry, if you loose pressure they update immediately. They last about 10 years and cost less.
BTW, the key fob shares the radio reciever with the TPSs. That is why they are different also.
