C5 down on power
I own an 02, MN6, Z51 coupe and, after working on my old man for a couple of years, he finally gave in and bought a beautiful red-on-red 04, MN6 Z51 coupe last September. After I drove his car, it felt soft compared to mine. So, this past weekend, we broke out the GTech and ran the numbers: My car 294 hp
, his car 261
So, the objective data backed up the subjective impressions. What could be causing this? The car runs great, sounds good, gets good mileage, no check engine lights, MAF is clean/clear, and both cars are stock.
Thanks,
Bullman

Possible culprits we have discussed include:
1) Clogged fuel filter (I hope not, as this is a pain to fix on the 04's)
2) Clogged injectors
3) Engine is pulling timing for one reason or another
4) One or maybe two cylinders is not firing to its full potential
5) ???
Possible cures:
1) Fuel system cleaner (Techron)
2) New spark plugs/wires
3) Dyno tune?
4) ???
I am hopeful that a few of guys have dealt with a similar issue and can offer some good suggestions. I can tell my Dad does not like having the slower Corvette...

Now if you have the 1st Gtech without the dyno and etc the 2nd Gtech has the dyno and the graph and plug and play so you can download onto a computer and than you can see whats really happening.
Maybe the car needs a tune up most people don't tune up there cars thats why they buy and sale them when there a few years old. Good luck.
I have the original GTech and cannot download graphs etc. However, the car feels softer at all RPM's. It does not launch as hard or pull to redline as quickly. For example, I was dumping the clutch from 2500 RPM and getting almost no wheelspin. Try that in my car and
I agree that a good tune up could not hurt and we will probably do that regardless.
