Joel.....one step at a time, gotta do some long range planning with the car and what I want to eventually do...I realize I lean more towards the "show" side, but the "racer" in me has been ignited :reddevil
Mark,
One less cheeseburger and you'd have been in the 12.8's.
Damn, I gotta find a track that will let me run without the rollbar. What was your 1/8th time and speed? Maybe you can post the slip(s). The only number I remember from my first and only run (I got kicked out for running under 13.445, even though I used my brakes and went thought the traps at 75 MPH) was the 86.15 MPH at the 1/8th.
Those sub 2 second 60' launches are nice aren't they. That was my first ever. I wonder if my 3/4 of a tank of gas helped with my launch. My car is so traction limited. Sounds like you're doing a great job.
What tires are you running?
Jim
Was that a NHRA track? IHRA dictates helmet & no passenger if running faster than 8.69 in the 1/8 or 13.99 in the 1/4, but no rollbar needed. I will look at my NHRA rulebook & see what it says. Did you have a helmet on? Each track can also have stricter rules than the Governing rules as I understand.

Hey "SpudBud" :jester
thanks man...I'm really having a blast seeing as I've been to the track 4 times with about 45 runs completed :D
on the run I posted my 1/8th was 8.399@86.49 :) Best #s were 8.390 and 87.80mph
except for that one sub 2 60ft, the rest were 2.00, 2.02, 2.07....best to date is a 1.985
don't have access to a scanner but I did have 3 other forum memebers out running last nite and they can confirm....I know that's not why you asked though
as for tires...stock emts at street pressure, drove around the water and spun them slightly :)
and btw, my R/Ts were all sub 6's, cept for the one .495
Cars run what they run...Drivers make the reaction time count. Consistant .5's are awesome. Ya got the talent man!
I am leaving for home now...gates open at 8. I don't know what the crowd will be, but what the heck...it's an adventure, and since they discourage trailored cars and don't allow rollbar/slicks race cars, we should kick but!
See ya there if you can make it. You know my cell. :D
TLewis, thanks for the scoop on the track you guys frequent. I was at an NHRA track (Firebird International) and they have gotten very strict lately. Everyone is required to wear a helmet and you aren't allowed to run any convertible without a rollbar under 13.99. Absolutely no passengers. :(
Other forum members were great in validating these NHRA rules this week when I asked. I know that I have been able to run at lease 13's at that same track in the past. Here's the thread with the NHRA rules.
I'm looking for a different local track and also checking if Firebird allows you to run sub 13's on Fridays where it's more a run what you brung night.
Those are some awesome times Mark. Get the gears and TC and look out. You will definitely need to rework the launch. I really liked running about 27 psi in my rear EMT's. I went around the water and lit em up real good. Very little slippage. I think my 60' time was 1.9. That was phenomenally better than the last time I was out. But I still need so much more practice. :smash: :yesnod:
you too Jim....got a set of gears on the way now and will probably hold off on the converter for now cause when I do that stuff I want new tires and rims at the same time....time to start stacking the closet with mods :D
anyone know where I can get an LS6 intake and an Underdrive pully for low $$$ :D
Mark, just got an update on tonight from a regular. It is just like a street race. You stage, no tree lights...just goes green like at a street light. No waiting, just get in line after you have walked up to staging & signed the release & gotten an wrist band.
Expect 200-300 cars & 400-500 spectators! Action picks up later. We can go to the tower to see our times. Alot of chevys & mustangs & Porches...not alot of rice.
Alot of side bets$ (he said don't race for $) Just like a 70's street gathering..lot's of fun.
 Geez Mark.......you really have turned into a monster of sorts! :smash: Any chance we'll get to a track down there when I come down next week-end? I never thought about you being at Sea Level  ..........that ought to good for another 1/10th don't you think. I'm at 600' above here. HMMMMMMMMMMM
Hey all, ran with the club 1320 crowd tonight...a couple hundred cars, lot's of super fast streeters'...it was a BLAST $8 bucks entry and you just pull up by the line and they come up and ask the vette to race. Mitsi eclipse's, MR2's, lot's of mustangs, F-bodies, CRx's. Even an old VW rabbit that must have run 12's.
Beat them all except a late 80's mustang w/slicks & front skinny's. Had him till the 330 & he hit the bottle..got us by a lentgh & 1/2. Had alot of fun with the ricers...they would come up one after another asking to race w/smiles on there face..tell me they don't go to fast, just want to run a C5 once, then we here them laughing with there friends how they are going to spank the vette. Never happened! Some were good sports, others wouldn't talk afterwards. Shoulda been there! :D
TLewis..........that format at the track sounds like a lot of fun :yesnod: They should do something like that at our local track. Sounds like you had a great time! :D
