Default What Drag Radials?

I'm running 295/35/18's on my black motorport knock off's for auto-x, I'm going to order another pair of wheels for drag radials, I'm going to stick with 18's (18x10.5) so that I don't have to buy smaller wheels up front too.

Here's what I can see as my option:
Nitto NT555R DR's - 285/35/18 or 305/35/18
BFG DR's - 295/35/18

I need some devent miles out of them, I'm going on Drag Week so theyu have to survive 1000+ miles and 5 days of drag racing!

I have had the Nitto's, thought they were decent, haven't had the BFG's though.

I run the BFG's on my Camaro and havent had a problem. The tires have had a good wear time for me. They get super sticky fast and dont wear away to nothing like some DR's do. I havent used Nitto's so I cant compare wear. My BFG's have lasted over a year with street/highway and racing miles. I still have some tire left.

I've run Nittos on my Grand National and the Z06 and would choose them over the BFGs for any partial street driven situation for one reason-- they can be driven in the rain.

Now if you want 60's over all else the Mickey Thompson Street Radials can't be beat-- same stickiness as their slicks in a radial tire. Shorter life, need heat and dry roads, but the grip is unreal. I now run these on the GN and with a little heat in them they hook fantastically even on the street.

Really, I didn't know the BFG's were bad in the rain, thank you for pointing that out.

Did they finally make an 18' version of them? They would be the hardest hooking tire of the bunch and actually drive pretty well all things considered. My buddy uses them on his daily driver F-Body and I cant believe how long they lasted (15K or so and still going but they are needing to be replaced at this point).

Any DR out there in 17" or 18" that "hooks" is going to suck in the rain accept the nitto's but they dont "hook".

The M/T 275/40/17 totaly suck in the rain and will drop you down to 30mph with any water on the road .

If you wana hook and pray it dosnt rain get the m/t 275/40/17 .

If you really want to hook and drag people's ***'s down the street get the M/H Racemaster 325/45/17's DR's .

If you HAVE to stick to the 18x10" rims get the BFG DR's in 18" ,, they will hook decent but suck cheeze in the rain .

Just remember , if you put DR's on the car its not going to handle any more and you cant go around corners fast and you really dont want to get sideways on DR's at all .

Thanks zoomz!

I have to go 18's just because I don't want to spend money on front wheels and tires to make them smaller and a reverse stagger would look retarded!

On Drag Week, if you're not familiar with it we'll be driving every night for 4-8 hours so we might get stuck in rain so that's important.

It looks like the nitto's are going to be the way to go for now and I'll get some MT's after these are gone.

Coming back to this, what size would I need if I did an 18?
