Dude, I owned a 99 C5 and drove an NSX. Trust me, get the C5, you'll be much happier.

To me, the C5 is roaring V8 power, the NSX was a Honda with a little exta power....sort of a let down after the C5.

If you seen the Car and Driver show last weekend that covered several of the popular preformance cars this would be no issue. The NSX is and was a design marvel. That car really gives you a lot of bang for the buck. Car and Driver called it a bargin at 80k. The problem is the car is the exact same car as purchased in 91. 11 model years and no major change is crying out for an upgrade.

Nothing compares with the ZO6 for preformance at a great price. If you really want an NSX save up another 50k and when the new V8 comes out in few years get that one.

If I was gonna purchase a used car in the 50k range I would consider a Viper over NSX. *Hope that comment don't get me in trouble*

dvj,

What are you looking for in your choice? It seems odd that you don't think the turbo Porsche is a contender. On the Porsche boards you would probably get an earfull. If you are looking for all out performance and fun driving, I think the Corvette, especially the Z06 would be hard to beat. I have a 99 hardtop Vette and I pulled on an NSX when I was stock. I am assuming he was stock too. Modding an NSX will cost you LOTS of money and as somone else mentioned, repairs will eat you up too. Chances are if you are stock, you will get beaten up by the LS1 camaros and firechickens.

I think the NSX is an excellent car if you want the exotic car feel and they look REALLY nice with aftermarket rims. I also like the cockpit type interior of the NSX.

I would say that the decision depends on how you are expecting to use the car for yourself. Good luck with your decision.

Keep in mind the NSX has to have more regular service intervals. 10-15k. They range from $600-$2500+ if you need a timing belt. My friend has one. I test drove 5 before I made up my mind to get the vette. Don't get me wrong, the NSX is a fun car, but nothing like having a warranty, an open top(vert), and 350+ horsepower! :yesnod:

I could not bring myself to pay for a car that is almost 6-7 years old (95-96 Targa, around 50k), that did not even have a warranty or anything. I say put the NSX off unless you can get one atleast 3 years old or newer.

Make sure you buy plenty of tires for the nsx cause I have heard they will go through a set in about 3-4k miles?????

In road racing they show me squat. Get the ZO6. Wait till you get some parts prices from Japan.

Definately go with the Vette. If you can get a Z06, you won't regret it.

if you go NXS, WAIT till the new one comes out, or BUY the Vette, when the new NXS comes out you can test drive IT and compare the two. then your descsion will be based on experience rather than guessing.

From what I hear NSXs are also tire eaters. From your past cars you wont be happy with a NA DOHC 6, no low end grunt. No comparison to a 02 Z in acceleration or sound. :yesnod:

In my opinion, nothing compares to the smell of a brand new car.

The only reasons to get a used car are:
(a) They don’t make them any more OR
(b) You can’t afford a brand new one and you have to have it.

Only you can measure your “have to have it” factor.

I’ll go with the brand new one…
