OK so I posted my problem a while back...my tach goes dead...just like you turned off the key....so does the HUD at the same time...A light tap on the dash brings it back to life...so people told me it might just be in the plug going into the instrument cluster......maybe its not in all the way? Also since I put aftermarket 19's on my 2000 FRC, I get the service tire pressure deal on the digital readout...should I get that every 15 min or so....or only on startup? if the plug is loose and making intermittent contact that might explain why I get the 15 min reminders on the digital display.( it might be more or less than 15 min but its displayed 2-3 times in say 20 miles)...also do I need to dismantle the center console to remove the undertray below the steering wheel to get my hand up there to "wiggle" the plug to the cluster...if not anyone have some pics on how it is removed...I dont want to crack/break anything....any info would be greatly appreciated....thanks..Nick
Nick,
Regarding your intermittent tach operation, I also am experiencing the same problem. I am unable to confirm if the problem resides in the instrument cluster or in the wiring harness. I've removed my cluster using the steps posted on the vetteessential.com web for changing bezel surrounds. Go there and drill down to http://www.vetteessentials.com/instr...zel_howto.html. Their procedures are excellent.
If you have success, let me know. My dissambly and reinstallation did not solve the problem.
